Geotechnical Engineering
FDH provides a full range of geotechnical engineering services including subsurface explorations, soil testing, engineering analyses, design recommendations and construction materials testing. Our geotechnical group specializes in design recommendations for both shallow and deep foundations and provides geo-structural services for large infrastructure projects including retaining structures, buildings, telecommunication towers, and related facilities.
FDH completes over 1,200 geotechnical evaluations and assessments annually. We have experience performing these types of jobs throughout the continental United States, Hawaii, Alaska and internationally in Canada, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and Guam. FDH has also established relationships with a network of over 250 drilling firms, which provide drilling capabilities ranging from conventional trailer and truck-mounted rigs to all-terrain and track mounted rigs. We also offer portable rock coring equipment and helicopter-placed rigs for use on even the most inaccessible sites.
Our in-house, state-of-the-art laboratory conducts a wide range of materials testing in accordance with the American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM), the American Concrete Institute (ACI), and the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT).
